I’M NEW
If you’re thinking about visiting our church for the first time, you’d probably like to know what to expect. We know it can sometimes be challenging for people when visiting a new church so hopefully the information in this section will answer some of your queries and help you to feel comfortable when you visit us. However, you may have further questions not covered here so please contact us and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
WILL I BE SINGLED OUT BECAUSE I’M A VISITOR?
No! We are a friendly congregation and aim to give you a warm welcome but we certainly won’t intentionally do anything to make you feel uncomfortable. If you have never visited a church before and are feeling nervous, there is no reason to be. God does not expect you to be perfect before you come to church, and neither do we.
HOW MANY ATTEND?
Our Sunday morning congregation varies in number depending on the time of year, but is usually around 40 people. A good mix of people come along and cover all age groups, stages of life and nationalities!
DO I NEED TO DRESS UP FOR SUNDAY?
No! Most of our fellowship just wear what they feel most comfortable in. Some like to wear formal dress and others come in shorts and a t-shirt.
WHAT TIME DO YOU MEET ON SUNDAYS?
We all meet together to worship God from 10.30am on a Sunday morning. Our services usually finish between 11.30 and 11.45 but many stay for fellowship and to chat to others over coffee and tea afterwards.
WHERE DO I SIT DURING THE WORSHIP SERVICE?
There are no assigned seats in the sanctuary, please sit where you feel most comfortable.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE WORSHIP SERVICE?
Our services are fairly relaxed and we sing, pray and listen to a Bible based talk, usually given by one of our pastors. Some verses from the Bible will be read, and occasionally we will have a responsive reading (where the congregation participates in the reading). We hold communion on the first Sunday morning of each month and invite visitors who know and love the Lord to join us in this, without any pressure for those who don’t wish to take the elements. We do collect an offering during the service, but as a visitor, please don’t feel you have to give.
WHAT DO I DO WITH MY CHILDREN DURING THE SERVICE?
Children aged 3-11 are invited to join our Sunday School from around 11.00am onwards where they meet together and have classes to learn more about God and the Bible. A crèche is available for little ones during our service. However, you are more than welcome to keep your children with you during the worship service if you (or they) feel more comfortable doing that.
WHAT IS THE MUSIC LIKE?
We sing a range of worship songs from traditional hymns to more contemporary songs, depending on the type of service and time of year.
DO I NEED TO BRING A BIBLE?
If you have a Bible and would like to bring it, that would be great. If you don’t yet have a Bible or forgot yours, there are Bibles available in the sanctuary.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE SERVICE?
Everyone is encouraged to stay around after the service for fellowship together over coffee and biscuits (and sometimes cake!).
